24 Weeks!

Hello friends!

Oh man time is just FLYING by.  Here we are at 24 weeks :)

Soooo I had to get a little creative with our size comparison this week.  Seeing as how I could not find an ear of corn in the store, I decided to go around my house with a measuring tape to find something that was about a foot long, so that you could have a visual of how long our little man is :)

I don’t know about you but that is freaking huge. I cannot believe our baby is that long right now in my belly. No wonder I can feel his every movement :)

According to babycenter.com, “Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.”

Apparently my uterus is the size of a soccer ball! I think my belly accurately depicts that shape right about now, so that’s good :)  At my doctors appointment this week, I measured a little bigger than 24 weeks, which I blame my delicious lunch for ;).  I also told my doctor that I’ve been getting mild heartburn some days and she told me to start taking Zantac everyday to eliminate the acid that is in my stomach.  At my next appointment I will be having my glucose test, bleh.  Erin said it wasn’t too bad, so I guess I will survive!  She said do not eat any carbs or sugar before the test because if I do I will fail.  Check.. eggs and water the morning of my test it is.

If you remember yesterday, I posted about wall decor in the nursery… well last night Erik and Ava made these :)

Ava’s is on the left and Erik’s is on the right :) They wouldn’t let me help, which is fine because they did an amazing job.

I absolutely LOVE them.

While Ava was painting the elephants onto the canvas, my uncle, Erik and I went to Baby’s-r-us because my uncle wanted to get our baby a gift.  Guess what we got……

  1. Ah, those elephant pictures came out awesome!! I’ve been getting heartburn at night too. Good to know you can take Zantac. I have Tums on my approved list and usually one does the trick for me. I’m leaning towards the BOB for my running stroller too. One of my good runner friends has it and likes it a lot.
