Wonderful weekend!

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I accomplished something I never ever thought I would be able to do, I ran EIGHT miles! But more on that later.  Friday night my hubby and I decided to experiment with dinner, we had planned on making Tuna Noodle Casserole, but my experience with tuna last Monday left me with a metallic taste in my mouth, so I decided against it.  On our way back from the gym we stopped off at Giant and got a sweet $5 Rotisserie chicken, got home, shredded it and made Chicken noodle casserole.

As you can see, we made enough food to feed about 12 people.  We also had this for dinner both Saturday and Sunday nights, we changed the flavor up a bit and added some ricotta cheese Sunday night.

A few weeks ago I had ordered a win aerator with a groupon, and to my surprise it came in the mail on Friday, and we put it to good use this weekend.

Seriously changes the flavor of the wine, sooo good!

Saturday morning after Erik left to go snowboarding, I decided to brave the 60 mph winds to go for my longest run ever, EIGHT miles my friends… Eight…

I’m not thrilled with my time, but I think it reflects the struggle I had with the crazy wind.  Every time I would run uphill it seemed that I was also fighting the wind, it was awful. But I am very proud of myself for not giving up, ohhhh boy did I want to give up, but I didn’t.  Only two more long runs (9 miles on Saturday, and 10 miles the following Sat.) before my big race!  After my run I took an ice bath, and I loved it. This ice bath was a lot better than my first one, maybe because I wore my pants and socks, or maybe my body wanted/needed it.  Whatever the reason, I am so glad I did it, because I am not the least bit sore.

Afterwards, I got ready and headed up to Bethesda to have lunch with my friend Jamie.  We went to a place called Cafe Deluxe, and the food was amazing, the service however was awful.  We sat around for over an hour before our waitress even put in our order, she came over and told us she forgot!  She was horrible, but it didn’t matter because Jamie and I could talk for hours.  I only felt bad we had to wait so long because her poor kids were getting a bit antsy.  They were so good though, we drew pictures, and wrote words, it was great. I had an amazing time.  Unfortunately, Jamie and I were too busy yaking to take a picture of ourselves :), I did manage to get a quick picture of my other two dates for the day!

On Sunday, Erik and I got up and have waffles, yum, then headed out to run a few errands before we took Ella to the dog park to play with Sundeep, and Nalini’s dog Lucy.  Sorry I did not get any pictures, but they had a great time, and Ella was super pooped when we got home.

Everyone had a great weekend 🙂 and even though I wasn’t there, look at the super cool awesome jump Erik did at Liberty this weekend. Champ!

Have a great day!

What did you do this weekend?!

Oh gosh, the wind can slow you down soooo much. It was a long run though, so you really shouldn’t worry about pace!! It’s called long, slow distance for a reason. Way to push through!!! You’re doing so great with your training!!

Congrats on running 8 miles!!! Huge accomplishment! 🙂 And wind sucks- it really takes a lot out of you!
