Sunset on the Lake

Hello friends!

I am totally feeling uninspired to blog today :-/ mainly because I tried a new recipe last night and it was quite possibly the worst thing I have ever made.  Luckily I tasted the “spicy thai sauce” before I mixed it into the pasta, figured out it tasted like straight up vegetable oil (BARF) and threw it out.

Which leads me to the question.. does anyone know if vegetable oil goes bad? I never thought there was a shelf life for oil, but maybe I am just stupid.. anyone?

Instead I made some pretty bang-o-rang baked spaghetti but nothing out of this world different to share with you guys so I leave you with some soothing sunset pictures I took at the lake two weeks ago 🙂

I am a sucker for a good sunset picture 🙂

I hope everyone has a great day!

Cooking oil most definitely has a limited shelf life. Depending on the type of oil and the storage conditions, most types of oil will keep for up to 3-6 months. (I’ve had oil last a lot longer than that, though.) If the oil smell is strong, it’s probably gone rancid. Ever since this happened to me, I stopped buying big bottles because I wasn’t going through it fast enough.

Great sunset pics! I never really thought about the shelf life either, but I have heard you’re supposed to keep them in a dark cool place like in the pantry rather than exposed to sun or heat like right next to the stove. Bummer. I usually use cooking disasters as an excuse to order take out!
