23 Weeks!

Hello friends!

Here we are at 23 weeks!

ahh look at that belly, haha I love it.  This week, babycenter.com says our baby weighs as much as a large mango, but since I already compared him to a mango a few weeks ago, I had to get creative.  So I walked around Trader Joe’s until I found a veggie that seemed to be around 11.5 inches long, enter yellow squash.

I think last week’s lettuce leaf was longer, but whatever you get the idea he is getting longer, ha. He now weighs over a pound!

According to babycenter.com, “Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze her when she hears them outside the womb.”

We have been starting to think about playing baby noises around the house once in a while to get Ella used to hearing those noises.  I pray everyday that Ella and our baby will get along. She has gotten very protective of me recently, and I am hoping that is only because she senses something is different and I am carrying precious cargo.  Hopefully once the baby is born she will go back to her normal self, either that or start protecting the baby more :).  She has been very good around kids *knock on wood*, so we are hoping that she will be awesome with the new baby.

I have been feeling pretty good.  Walking around the neighborhood isn’t as easy as it once was and I foresee it getting harder. With my family in town from Iran we haven’t gotten a chance to go to the gym since last week, boo, but am hoping I can make an appearance sometime this weekend and into next week.

In nursery news, other than the hampers, this quilt will be one of the last things I think I will purchase for the baby’s room until after my baby shower.

Don’t hold me to it, but I am seriously going to try and keep my purchases at bay.. If I don’t I fear that my friend Katie is going to start coming after me ;).  We have a tentative date of November 17 for my shower hosted by my awesome and wonderful sister in law Diana 🙂 I will be almost 30 weeks then.. wow. I know it seems a bit early but I don’t want to risk snow and ice getting the in the way of people being able to come.  And let’s be honest, I am already one of the clumsiest people in the world, so pregnant Dorsa and ice will not mix this year. I need to stock up on some good books for the winter season and pray that we don’t get a huge blizzard in late January!
