36 Weeks!

Hello friends!

Four.more.weeks.. We can now officially count down in DAYS… 28 days left! At the end of this week Liam will be considered FULL TERM!!! Kinda hard to believe this experience is almost over, but physically and emotionally I am really ready.  This week if we are going by he is gaining 1/2 a lb a week.. he should be up to 6 lbs 4 oz… hmm…. If I go to term and he gains weight at this pace he will be around 8 lbs 4 oz.. Which is hard to believe because both Erik and I were pretty small babies.. we shall see…

I’ve been having some intense Braxton Hicks contractions, luckily they only happen once or twice every few hours.  That coupled with lower back pain.. it’s been a rough week. One night I got up 5 times before 2am to pee, and I could not get comfortable, it was unreal I almost broke down.  He doesn’t have much room in there now a days, so I’ve been getting some heartburn right before bed even though I have been taking a daily zantac.

It hasn’t been all miserable though, during most of the day I am pretty happy and usually pain free.  I’ve also been reading a lot of books and blogs.  One book I highly recommend if you need a good laugh, Sippy Cups are not for Chardonnay

The second book that I started reading is this one..

So far I like it.  I can’t really do a full review of it, because I just haven’t read enough of it. I can’t remember who recommended this book to me, or if I just saw it on a blog somewhere, but it must have gotten good reviews if I put it on my Christmas wishlist, ha.

Additionally my friend, who lives down the street, had her baby 3 months ago and recommended this book to us, she says it saved her life and now her 3 month old baby sleeps through the night!  I have yet to open this book, but I am hoping to get cracking on it soon.

One more book I picked up yesterday,

If you have other books you think I should read please send suggestions my way!

On New Years Day after we went to brunch with my in-laws, we headed to Ikea to find a side table for the nursery.  I love Ikea so much, they always seem to have the perfect furniture.  I got home and built it, all by myself, because I am amazingly handy 🙂 that and Erik was busy doing stuff around the house 🙂

You can go ahead and tell me how awesome I am.

Starting sometime this week I will also be sleeping on a waterproof mat, just in case my water breaks in the middle of the night. Erik’s mom is a baby nurse and she said she would get me some from the hospital! WOOT. I will also be finishing up my toiletry bag, so that I can put all the hospital bags in my car, just in case I go into labor while I am at work or we are out and about somewhere.  I really do hope he waits at least one more week if he wants to come early because I would like him to be considered full term before he is born, but he will come out when he is ready.

According to babycenter.com, “Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she’s in a head-down position. But if she isn’t, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an “external cephalic version,” which is a fancy way of saying she’ll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.”

So close! That’s pretty cool you still have an innie, I hope mine does the same, we will see.

I’ve heard really good things about Happiest Baby on the Block. It’s definitely on my list!

Are you going to have an ultrasound this week? My doctor’s office will do one at 36 weeks to estimate the babies size at term.

No more ultrasounds.. We went in at 32 weeks to get his kidney checked out and that’s when they did baby size estimate. Ours said he would prob be around 7 lbs 🙂

We have the same night stand in our nursery, except in espresso! It’s funny, because my husband insisted on getting it and I didn’t think we needed it, but now I realize we really do because we have it set up near the glider and you can put books and drinks on it, which will be handy during feedings.
You look great! I swear I’m bigger than you already- I’m not sure where my monsterous belly is coming from but it’s a little unsettling! Good book suggestions!
