Oh boy Liam is 18 weeks old today!
We just got back from Liam’s 4 month check up and the doctor said that we can start Liam on solids! I think we are going to wait a few more weeks but it is good to know that we can start them. He said to start with 3-6 tablespoons of soupy rice or oat cereal then thicken over 10 days. Then after that to start him on fruits and veggies, and introduce a new fruit or veggie every 3 days. And once he gets used to that to start giving him some soft foods, like bananas, avocado and watermelon. He wants us to start mixing in meat and stuff when he is 6 months old. And his 6 month appointment is at the end of July so I know we have to start solids before that.
He also said, which goes against what I’ve been reading online, to make sure to put sunscreen on Liam when we take him out in the sun. I’ve been doing some research on sunscreens and I think I am going to stick with the trusty Badger brand.
I just wish the darn stuff wasn’t so expensive.. I guess it has to be if the ingredients look this good:
Active Sunscreen Ingredient:
Uncoated, Non-Nano Zinc Oxide 12%
Inactive Sunscreen Ingredients:
*Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Juice, *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oleosomes, *Sucrose Cocoate (fromCoconut), Water, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Citric Acid (from Non-GMO Corn), Leuconostoc Ferment Filtrate (from Radish), *Glycerin (from SustainablePalm), *Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Extract, Tocopherol (Sunflower Vitamin E), Gluconolactone (from Non-GMO Corn), *Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) CO2Extract, Xanthan Gum, *Lecithin (from Soybean), Cellulose Gum, *Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Essential Oil. * = Certified Organic
Let’s see what else did he say.. oh ya he said that Liam was a very very strong boy, and that he will be pulling himself up on furniture and walking around before he is 10 months old! Oh my.. I don’t know if I am ready for that. But I am so happy he is growing well and he is strong.
*poop talk be warned*
Liam hasn’t been pooping everyday, and I was getting worried so I asked the doctor about it today and he said that it was totally normal for babies this age not to poop everyday. He said as they get older they absorb most of the breastmilk so they may not poop everyday. He said it is even normal for them to go only once a week, that is until they start eating solid foods. Then things will change. That is a big relief because I was starting to get worried. I mean he hasn’t been fussy so I knew that he wasn’t bothered by it, I just wanted to know. And now I do.
You remember that onesie right? From our pregnancy announcement:
