Thank you friends and family for all of your wonderful comments yesterday! Erik, Liam, Ella and I are really excited and nervous for the journey ahead of us! The nervous part stems from the unknown of having a toddler in full blown terrible twos and a newborn. Only time will tell!
This pregnancy has been the COMPLETE opposite of the last one.
First of all, being pregnant with a toddler is very difficult. Luckily my husband is amazing and has been a Rockstar when it comes to knowing when I need extra help. Secondly, morning all day sickness is really really kicking my butt. I have never felt so awful for so long in my entire life. It started the day before I even found out I was pregnant. Actually, I tested the following day because I got sick the previous morning (and every day after that). My doctor offered to write me a prescription but I declined because I am still a little weary of taking medications during pregnancy. I am happy to report that finally at 12 weeks I am “morning” sickness free!
Another difference with this pregnancy is that I am showing MUCH sooner than last time. I was about 16 weeks before I feel like I “popped”. This time I feel like I look 20 weeks pregnant already. I’ve gained about 4 lbs total since I found out I was pregnant and this time around I am okay with that. Last pregnancy I gained about a pound a week, which in my opinion was a little excessive. Weight gain is a part of pregnancy and I am totally okay with it. I have been staying more active (thank you Liam) this time around so I do believe that is helping tremendously.
Also unlike last time I did not take weekly pictures until about 10 weeks. I plan on continuing with my weekly pictures, and doing some side by side comparisons. It will be interesting to see how I carry this time around.
I also haven’t been craving anything this time around, like at all! Most days I don’t seem to have much of an appetite. Recently though I have noticed that I need a small breakfast (toast or something like that) then I usually am starving and can have a relatively big lunch. Dinner time is hit or miss, I can eat but not much. I’m not really complaining though because I think eating bigger meals in the middle of the day is much healthier than a huge meal for dinner, it gives the body more time to digest the food before bedtime.
Speaking of bedtime… I am already getting up once or twice a night to pee. REDICULOUS! The past few nights have been better but during the first trimester, oh man, it was bad. I would get up two sometimes three times. It would make for a really unpleasant workday.
At the end of 11 weeks I was hit with a nasty summer cold. I refuse to take any medication while pregnant so I was knocked out for about two days. I am still sort of battling it with a stuffy nose and a yucky cough, but overall I feel good.
I still cannot believe how much I am showing already. I really hope I can still fit into my bridesmaid dresses in September and October! So here we are at the end of my first trimester (already!) and I feel pretty good. I am still pretty exhausted but I think that comes with the territory of having a very active toddler and being pregnant.
I promise all of my pictures will not be in maxi dresses; they are just the most comfortable thing right now. Because of all the queasiness I really didn’t want to wear anything that would touch my stomach. Weird I know but it helped me get through the first 12 weeks!
I think that about wraps up the first trimester, long story short, I was sick a lot and now I feel good! haha. I am looking forward to the adventure that lies ahead! Onward to the second trimester!
Have a great day!
