Two weeks old!

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Our little princess is two weeks old already!

It is hard to believe that she wasn’t even due until yesterday, and here I am taking her two week picture and blogging about her progress this week. This week our little lady had to go to the doctor again. Well I guess she didn’t HAVE to go, but I took her just to be safe. In the middle of the night her right eye started looking gooey, and so I took her in because I thought she had pink eye.  It didn’t even cross my mind that it could just be a blocked tear duct, but it turns out that is all that it was.  I’ve been massaging her tear duct, and it seems to be helping get the goo out.

When I took her to the doctor they weighed her and she weighed 7 lbs 3oz. I am sad that she only gained 3 oz in a week. I feel like i failed on that front. At two weeks, Liam weighed 7 lbs 15 oz. Yes Liam was bigger at birth; 3 more oz and Quinn will have gained a pound since birth, but who is counting.Downloads9Also this week her umbilical cord stump fell off, so now I can put clothes on her without fear of accidentally pulling off the stump.  She is still wearing newborn clothes and in newborn diapers, but is starting to fill them out more everyday.

DSC_0202Sleeping at night has been hit or miss. I’m not really sure what’s going on or how to fix it.  She sleeps very well during the day, in nice long three hour stretches, but at night sometimes it is really hard to get her to go back to sleep. I think we need to do a better job at keeping her awake starting at 8 or 9, in order to get her to go to sleep around 10 when we go to bed. Once she is asleep, this girl can SLEEP.  When I can finally get her to go to sleep at night she will sleep for a good 4- 4.5 hours.

DSC_0194Erik and Liam went out to buy Quinn a pacifier so we are hopeful that if she takes the paci she will be able to fall asleep at night without me nursing her to sleep. I’ve been reading back on my blog posts from last time and we need to start thinking of introducing her to a bottle and her crib for naps during the day.  I stayed home with Liam for 6 weeks last time, so I started the transition a little earlier than I will be this time around.  I am taking around 8 weeks this time so I think we can push things back a week or two.

I don’t know why, but I find myself looking for things to do around the house more this time around than I remember last time. I’ve been doing a lot of laundry and I think this week I will be doing some pantry organization. If the weather cooperates I might even venture out of the house to get some pantry organizing things.  But first I have to figure out how I am going to do it.

Also this week I plan on taking pictures of Quinn’s nursery and doing a nursery tour for you all. I was so in love with Liam’s nursery that I didn’t think I could make another one that I felt so happy about, but I did. There is something about coral and glitter that makes me so happy!

Stay tuned!

I hope everyone has a great day and STAY WARM!
