Basement Reno

Hello friends!

Our basement is 99% done! Done enough that we moved all the family room furniture down there and we are using it as our main living space while we finish up the family room.  The basement turned out better than I ever imagined it would and I am so happy with it.  If you recall this is what it looked like before we bought the house.

basement basement 2So much clutter and confusion. They had a dog down there so it smelled awful. After a while the smell went away but we didn’t want the kids down there until we cleaned the carpets.

Believe it or not, the previous owners did not have lights or heat in the basement… at all!  We installed recessed lights first, then they started working on the stairway lighting and railing. IMG_0072 IMG_0073 (1) IMG_0152As you will see the stairway is the only part of the basement that is not 100% done. Unfortunately, I really want the family room done before Thanksgiving, so they put the stairs on hold until the family room is complete. It is going to look snazzy once the light is reinstalled and the handrail is put in.

I stayed home on Friday so that we could get the carpets cleaned before we moved the furniture down there.

On Saturday, we moved the furniture downstairs and let the kids loose!

I hope everyone has a great day!
